Located just two hours from Osaka, Golden Valley Golf Club has been widely acknowledged as among the strongest layouts in Japan. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course measures 7,275 yards from the back tees that is equal in length to Augusta National. The course waves itself through pines sprinkled with liberal doses of mountain maples and cherry trees, which usher in the spring with their spectacular pink blossoms.
Designed by Hattori Akira and opened for play in 1961, the par 72, 18 hole East Course at Kita Rocco Country Club measures slightly over 7,000 yards from the back tees, and is generally considered more prestigious than its sibling – the West Course at the same club. The course is located in Kobe city in Hyogo and has played to several tournaments over the years including the 54th Kansai Open of the JPGA Tour and the Mitsubishi Electric Ladies Open (LPGA Tour).
The Arima Royal Golf Club has played venue to some of the most prestigious golf tournaments in Japan, including the Japan Open Golf Championship in 1987. Designed by Osamu Ueda and opened for play in 1972, the Royal Course at Arima Golf Club is generally considered the more illustrious variant than its counterpart, the Noble Course that was designed by Robert von Hagge.
Situated less than half an hour’s drive from Kobe city centre, and surrounded by a natural forest Rokko Kokusai Golf Club is home to two 18-hole courses, the par-72 East and the par-71 West. Designed by Fukuichi Kato in the mid-1970s then renovated by Nicklaus Design in 1996, the East is by far the longer and tougher of the two tracks.
Endowed with spacious fairways and wide greens and located within easy access of Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe, the Arima Country Club was chosen amongst the “100 Best Golf Courses in Japan, 2018” by the Choice golf magazine. The course is built on a magnificent site with rolling hills and pine forests with great variety in the holes including several water hazards and doglegs that come into the play at separate intervals.
